Modern Hieroglyphs

Pictograms

Thousands of pictograms are associated with Olympic Games. These pictograms are my favorites. The curvy pictograms remind me of figure drawing. The lines are naturally following the human body creating a perfect harmony between positive and negative space, black and white.

I also find it visually interesting the colored pictograms. They are very popular in the modern art but they were used before, for example, in the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. Simple but yet eye-catching. It is a good way to attract attention with the color but still being able to keep it simple.

The baby pictogram is another favorite. The artist successfully used the negative space to create the diaper.
